New Perspectives in Twenty-first Century English Literature seeks to explore and represent the dynamic presence of Indigenous narratives within contemporary literary contexts. This conference will provide a platform for scholars, writers, and activists to examine the multifaceted ways in which Indigenous literatures engaging with issues of identity, cultural survival, decolonization and modernity.
As Indigenous voices gain prominence in the global literary scene, the conference will explore key themes to highlight the efforts to preserve and revive Indigenous narratives, to examine how Indigenous writers are using speculative genres to reimagine the future while grounding their work in Indigenous knowledge and worldviews, to discuss how Indigenous writers address historical trauma, healing processes, and ongoing struggles for justice through their narratives, to focus on the contributions of Indigenous writers to literature and also delves into the dynamic transformation of traditional oral storytelling into modern written and digital forms. By facilitating interdisciplinary dialogues, the conference will focus on how these innovative mediums contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage.
